When you are ready to make a change but aren’t sure where to start I’ll meet you exactly where you are. You’ll be working directly with me, accessing my 36 years of trauma informed experience. My counselling style is down-to-earth, practically based, direct, empathic and compassionate, provided in an atmosphere of safety, support and non-judgement. I bring my deep expertise and wide range of tools to every session, ensuring that every client of mine gets what they need from the counselling experience, whether navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges or simply a season of life that feels too heavy to carry alone. I’ll walk beside you, supporting, seeing, assisting, and witnessing when necessary, and educating, challenging and cheering you on as needed. I love my work as a therapist. It’s important to me that counselling is a positive and useful experience for every client I see.
To offer a grounded, compassionate space, helping every client move from survivng to thriving, equipped with the tools, strength and hope to navigate more easily through this journey we call life.
To continually train and access new evidence based knowledge to assist individuals and couples in healing from trauma, overcoming life’s challenges and rediscovering their strength – through empathic expertise based counselling that meets every client where they are.
I can’t stand marketing, branding and sales pitches. My counselling work has never been about that. Dealing with those aspects of self employment as a therapist is incredibly frustrating. They drain the energy I want to focus on – helping those I work with. My heart has always centered on bringing some kind of light into others’ lives – clients feeling truly seen and understood. Their experiences and reactions validated. Their life journeys examined and taken apart to reveal truths previously hidden that change their views of self in an interesting new way. Hope emerging. Layers of anxiety, depression and trauma lifting. Grief lessening. New purpose being found. Optimism arising. Confidence lifting. That is where I want my focus to be, because that is the work that truly matters to me. Being with you. Giving you as my client what you need. With heart. And we can also swear along the way if you want. Or not, if that’s not your vibe.

Navigating Depression Positively
I came to Lisa in a very dark and desperate place mentally. Over the course of sessions and treatment, Lisa showed empathy, provided multiple treatment options, and a level of care that helped me overcome some of the challenges I faced during that time.
I found Lisa’s approach and counselling sessions to be compassionate, honest, and conducted in a way that left me feeling better equipped to process past issues while addressing the present and future in a way that set me up for more positive outcomes with the depression, anger and anxiety I came to her for help with.
Support For PTSD & First Responders
I have more than 30 years of frontline First Responder service and was skeptical of using a therapist when I was diagnosed with PTSD. I felt that my experiences would be difficult or foreign to most people leaving me to explain at length the background to situations I had encountered. This was so far from reality during my sessions with Lisa. Her life experiences and her vast experience as a counselor set me at ease and made our sessions so comfortable. Lisa listens. She is familiar and truly up-to date with all current techniques used in therapy. Lisa was instrumental in moving me from a dark place to a functioning human again. My family and I can’t thank her enough.
Navigating My Darkest Days
My search for a counsellor proved to be the perfect choice when I researched Lisa’s work.
Her compassion, professionalism and genuine honesty was exactly what I needed to get through a very, very difficult time in my life. I was mentally and physically exhausted from a long term abusive, controlling, manipulative marriage. I was completely beaten down and giving up. Lisa helped me navigate, cope, gave me the skills to handle my darkest days and strengthened me to get through this difficult time while continuing to check in on my wellbeing. I am forever grateful for her support, guidance and wisdom on all the unique tough challenges I faced. Thank you from my heart Lisa (and Reece) you made me whole again.
Compassionate Skilled Psychology
I had anxiety throughout school, but it got really bad when I was getting ready to go to university. I’m so glad I found Lisa! With her help I no longer have panic attacks and I was able to understand that part of my problem was social anxiety. With the tools and help she gave me, my life changed so much! I wish I’d started counselling sooner.

Counselling is a collaborative process where you work with a trained professional to address and overcome distressing issues or symptoms (anxiety, depression, PTSD) and explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences in a safe, non-judgemental space. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit -counselling can be used for maintenance and prevention, just like an oil change and service for your car. Many people seek counselling when they’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, unsupported, grieving a loss, navigating life transitions or workplace issues, or simply wanting to understand themselves better. If something is impacting your quality of life or peace of mind, counselling can help.
Booking is simple. You can reach Novii Counselling and Consulting by phone at 604-785-6577 or by email at novii@telus.net. I’d love to connect with you, answer any questions you have, and find a time that works for your schedule.
Your first session is really about us getting to know each other. Building a relationship that supports you. We’ll talk about what’s brought you to counselling, what you hope to gain from it, and what’s been going on in your life. I like to ask questions and will guide the session. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with- we go at your pace. By the end of the session we’ll have a clearer sense of direction, what working together will look like, and you’ll have some useful takeaways.
Both counsellors and psychologists provide talk therapy and support for mental health concerns. The key differences are in their training and scope of practice. Psychologists complete doctoral-level training and can conduct psychological assessments and diagnoses. Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) hold a master’s degree in counselling. For most people seeking talk therapy and support, an RCC is an excellent fit.
Yes, virtual counselling sessions are available via secure video for clients across British Columbia. Online counselling offers the same quality of care as in-person sessions with the added convenience of connecting from home or wherever works best for you. And you can save on gas! In person and telephonic sessions are also available.
Many extended health benefit plans in Canada cover sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). Coverage varies by plan so it’s a good idea to check with your provider before your first appointment. Novii Counselling can provide receipts for insurance purposes.
Standard counselling sessions are 50 minutes. I offer 60 minute sessions. 50 minute sessions are meant to allow 10 minutes for note taking. To give clients more bang for their buck, I take notes during the session. Additionally, I have always charged a lower rate than my expertise and experience warrant. I believe in keeping counselling as accessible as possible for clients while at the same time respecting my worth and the life balance I need. I’m not a fan of the “charge the fee and they will come” mentality. I do this work because first and foremost I want to make a positive impact in this world. It gives me joy to know that I’ve assisted in making someone else’s life easier, less burdened, or that they finally feel someone sees, hears, and understands them, and is on their side.
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. I’ve had one session wonders. Some people find a handful of sessions gives them what they need; others benefit from longer term work and support. We’ll check in regularly about your progress and adjust our work together based on your goals, finances, and how you’re feeling. You’re always in the driver’s seat.
