About Me

Get To Know Lisa

My style of counselling is down-to-earth and practically based. I work hard to ensure my clients are comfortable and get what they need from the counselling process. With 36 years of experience and continual training, I have a wide range of tools, techniques, strategies, and therapeutic modalities to offer. My work is trauma informed with a focus on relationship, support, safety, and non-judgment.

Born and raised in Alberta, and somewhat of an adventurous dreamer, I packed my belongings at age 29 to move to BC to be closer to the ocean. As an avid paddle-boarder, I spend much of my off-time on the ocean, SUP touring and exploring. When not out on the ocean, I can usually be found somewhere else in nature. I believe in and promote the power of the outdoors to provide healing. I am familiar with the challenges of divorce and single-parenting.   I have experienced numerous losses and transitions in my own life, including the loss of my brother, father, mother, and my son Keegan. Most recently, I lost my canine companion Reece who was an integral part of Novii Counselling for 141/2 years. I continue to search for meaning in life, am learning to continually re-orient and renavigate life’s unexpected storms, and somehow, still feel awe when surrounded by our planet’s beauty. My own experiences have served to deepen my compassion for others.

I don’t take my role as a therapist lightly. It is an honor and privilege to earn my clients’ trust, joining them on their journey and assisting them through tumultuous times.

But there was no need to be ashamed of tears, for tears bore witness that man had the greatest of courage, the courage to suffer

About Novii

How It All Adds Up

I’ve worked with youth and adults who’ve endured, survived and learned to thrive despite walking through some of the most difficult experiences imaginable. Life can place some major challenges in our way. It is our response that shows our mettle, our mistakes that help us learn, our moving forward with hope that hints at our strength. Sometimes we can use someone to walk beside us, to help us to see things in a new way, to support or encourage us when we are tired or feel like giving up, to open a doorway we hadn’t seen, and to help us process and integrate our experiences so that their power over us diminishes. That’s where I come in. That’s where counselling can help. You don’t have to climb that mountain alone. I offer in-person, video and telephonic sessions to clients.

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.
